Our handmade mantels are sourced from high quality, 100% natural European Air Dried Oak Beams that look better with age. The size of the Mantel approximately 4" x 4" and we offer it in different length and finishing. You can select length 80 -180 cm from Drop down Menu. There are three different styles of finish you can choose from.

Sanded beams are sanded and with lightly rounded edges to remove sharpness. Lightly worked beams have deeper working on the edges to give a distressed effect to the beam.

Heavily worked beams are even more exaggerated version of the same effect. Please note that the sizes listed are starting thicknesses before planning and sanding. As such, they may lose up to 5 mm on each face. As Oak is a natural product, each piece may be different in appearance and slightly in colour, and may already contain surface cracks, knots, pinholes.

Although air dried to the Pembrokeshire Climate, it is not unusual for the oak to develop further shrinkage, movement, splits and cracks as it acclimatises to your property's temperature. We recommend that if the beams are going above a log burner, fire or any intense heat, that the heat should be gradually increased over a period of a week or more if possible. Once received, please unwrap the oak as soon as possible to allow the wood to breathe - failing to do this may cause watermarks and mould to grow on the surface of the oak.

We advise fitting the beam and fixing it in place within 2 weeks from receipt to limit movement and twisting. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
